Mattel's Magic 8 Ball has been predicting the future since 1946. We ran a few questions about the San Francisco 49ers by one, and the results were less than optimal. For those unfamiliar with the concept, users ask yes-no questions to the ball, give it a shake and then turn it over to reveal the answer. We opted for an online version to ask the following:Did the Seahawks make the right call replacing Pete Carroll?Magic 8 ball says: Signs point to yesAfter mostly successful 14 years the Seahawks decided to move on from head coach Pete Carroll, replacing him with former...

Mariners settle in for the long haul, lose 4-1
For no particular reason, I have the revolutionary war on the brain right now. And while it would perhaps be more topical to compare this evening’s Mariners loss to the hit broadway musical 1776 about the signing of the Declaration of Independence, I’ve already done that. Instead, I’m going to do what I usually do and list the ways the Mariners lost in excruciating detail and then try to put a positive spin on things. But first, some history.
