FORSYTH COUNTY – On March 10, 2023, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office discovered a body in the back seat of a vehicle after being alerted by citizens at a residence on Kenbridge Drive.

The sheriff’s office’s investigative services unit began an investigation and determined the deceased was Tyler Joseph Burdi, a 23-year-old white male of Winston-Salem.

Chase Oliver Martin, a 25-year-old white male of Yadkinville, and Burdi reportedly arrived at the residence on Kenbridge Drive together.

Later on, Martin went looking for Burdi.

Martin reportedly struck Burdi accidentally while leaving the residence and after doing so, Martin placed Burdi inside his vehicle and drove off without seeking medical attention.

Attempting to return to the scene of the accident, Martin was intercepted by Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office whereby Burdi was located in the back seat.

On Jan. 18, following a thorough investigation and receiving autopsy results, Martin was charged with one felony count of concealment of death.

On Jan. 30, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office was informed that Martin was apprehended in Surry County without incident on Jan. 29. Martin was given a $10,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 5.

“The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office is committed to being a voice to those who no longer have  one and bring justice to those who have been unjust,” Sheriff Bobby F. Kimbrough said.
