West’s Spainhour takes district position: Search for replacement underway

CLEMMONS — West Forsyth High School will be looking for a new principal after Kevin Spainhour was announced as the latest east superintendent for the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools District.

According to a Thursday announcement from the school system, Spainhour was among the names of new district leadership. His official title will be East Area Superintendent.

Spainhour has served as the principal of West Forsyth since 2021. He was the principal of West Stokes High School in Stokes County. Prior to that, he served as the assistant principal at West Stokes for one year. Earlier in his career, Spainhour spent more than 10 years as a teacher at Mount Airy High School, East Surry High School and Chestnut Grove Middle School.

Spainhour has a bachelor’s degree from Guilford College, a master’s degree from East Carolina University and his administration licensure from Appalachian State University.

Chris Runge, the executive director for communications at the school system confirmed on Saturday that a search for a new principal at West will begin immediately.

In addition to Spainhour, Dr. Kisha Clemons was announced as the new north Area Superintendent. La Quisha Henry-Linder was appointed as the new principal of Northwest Middle School and Yamil Ardila Bullock will become the new multilingual learner services director.

Clemons has 22 years of experience in North Carolina public schools. She was a principal in Rowan County and Newton-Conover City Schools. Most recently, Clemons served as chief academic officer in Warren County Schools.

Clemons earned her bachelor of science degree in music education and her master’s degree in school administration from Appalachian State University. She also holds an educational specialist degree and a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Start dates for Clemons and Spainhour are to be determined.

Henry-Linder began with WS/FCS in 2005 as a teacher at Atkins High School, where she worked for 12 years. She served as a principal intern at Flat Rock Middle School before becoming an assistant principal at North Forsyth High School from 2018 to 2023. She is currently serving as assistant principal at Mineral Springs Middle School.

She received a bachelor of science degree from East Carolina University and a master of education degree from High Point University.

She begins her new role on July 1.

Bullock has served in WS/FCS as a dual language immersion instructional coach since 2022. She has over 10 years of experience leading and supporting dual immersion programs. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Tolima University, a master’s degree in special education from Elon University, a post-master’s in school administration and curriculum and instruction from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and licensure in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and dual language from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

She begins her new role on July 1.
