FORSYTH, Ill. (WCIA) — The Village of Forsyth announced that phase one of their new Sports and Nature Park has begun.

Sangamon, Macon County to see $47 million in construction projects

The area will be located just north of Highway 20, next to the new Shadow Ridge subdivision. It will include more than 10 acres of open space, a five-acre fishing pond, and two ADA-accessible fishing piers. There will also be a nearly 5,000-foot walking trail connected to an existing walking and biking trail.

While starting construction, village officials said broken field tiles were found and are set to be repaired. This will lead to an additional improvement of better drainage in the area, they said.

In the meantime, officials are currently working out plans for future phases. Once those are set in stone, they will be shared with the public.
