JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — A 33-year-old Illinois man drowned at Rockford Park on Big River in Jefferson County, Missouri. Guadalupe L. Lopez drowned around 1 p.m. on Tuesday, the Missouri Highway Patrol says. Lopez entered the water and went under and was pronounced dead by paramedics.

Youth with a Positive Direction celebrates 33 years of annual summer program
July 22, 2024 -Youth with a Positive Direction (YWAPD) is celebrating 33 years of providing summer programs to youth in the community. YWAPD is an after school and summer program that runs every week from 11a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Thursday and is free for all ages. The program, which is housed at Main Street Church of the Living God at 2000 N Main St., provides classes in dance, STEM, cooking, Drumline, Music/Choir, and tennis classes twice a week. The program also provides free breakfast and lunch for participants.
