NEW YORK - The Tri-State Area is reeling after historic flooding devastated parts of the region. Parts of Connecticut and Long Island were hit especially hard, with one official in Connecticut calling the rainfall a "1,000 year" event. Homeless and at-risk N.Y. veterans will receive $40 million from the Department of Veterans Affairs
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — New York veterans will be receiving millions of dollars in new aid from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. On Friday, the department announced in a written statement that “it will award $43,955,195 million in grants to help homeless and at-risk New York Veterans — along with an additional $16,756,899 million to benefit veterans from New York and surrounding states.”
New occupancy tax funding application process in Warren County
According to the Director of Public Affairs for Warren County, the county currently collects a four percent occupancy tax on all overnight tourism accommodations, and was added to the rate charged on an overnight stay at lodging facilities. New York City man gets 5 years in prison for having cocaine at Amsterdam hotel
A New York City man was sentenced to 5 years in prison after he was arrested earlier this year with cocaine at an Amsterdam hotel. William De La Rosa, 29, had previously admitted in federal court that on Jan. 25 of this year, he drove to the hotel with 1 kilogram of cocaine, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
