    Trailways South softball: Johnson Creek's Fincutter wins Player of the Year; 13 from area honored

    Johnson Creek senior Jenna Fincutter was named the Player of the Year in Trailways South all-conference softball voting held recently.

    Fincutter was one of eight Bluejays to earn recognition.

    Making the first team were Fincutter and juniors Madi Brigowatz and Hailee Walk. Senior Hailey Kvalheim and juniors Lainey Benz and Hailey Fincutter made the second team. Junior Molly Altreuter and sophomore Taylor Buglass received honorable mention.

    Jenna Fincutter led the league in hits (57) and RBIs (65). Benz was second in the conference in hits (54) and third in RBIs (42). Brigowatz was third in the conference in hits (49). Brigowatz led the Bluejays in batting average (.583).

    Walk posted a 17-4 record in 21 games pitched.

    Palmyra-Eagle had five players honored.

    Sophomore Briahna Covarrubias was named to the first team. Sophomore Brooklyn West and junior Teagan Koutsky made the second team. Junior Presley Koss and sophomore Sophia Lean received honorable mention.

    Covarrubias led the Panthers in batting average (.482) and RBIs (41). West was second on the team in batting average (.440) and RBIs (40). Lean recorded seven pitching victories. Koutsky had six wins.

    Johnson Creek and Horicon shared the Trailways South titles with 15-1 records, followed by Deerfield at 11-5, Palmyra-Eagle at 10-6, Williams Bay at 8-8, Dodgeland/Hustisford and Parkview each at 5-11, Rio at 2-14, Fall River at 1-15.
