Stone Class of '84 gathers 40 years later
It was back to 1980s for several graduates of Thomas Stone High School in Waldorf as members of the class of 1984 celebrated the 40th anniversary of their graduation. The festivities were held Sept. 28 at Port Tobacco Marina. In addition to enjoying food and fellowship, attendees also paused to remember those classmates who have died. Class reunion spokesman David Meadows told Southern Maryland News "proceeds from the anniversary will be used to plant a living, thriving tree in the memorial gardens on the grounds of Thomas Stone High School. We hope that as this Class of 1984 remembrance tree grows, it will remain a symbol that, no matter how far we branch out into the world, our roots will remain deeply embedded with the Cougar spirit." Meadows said that the 1984 Cougars are planning an even bigger event in 2034 to mark the class's 50th anniversary.
