Source: California Department of Housing & Community Development. In the heart of San Jose, on Almaden Boulevard, affordable housing has opened its doors to the community. The Arya complex, once known as the San Jose Market, is now home to 87 units specifically reserved for very low-income residents. These new homes cater to individuals earning between 30-60 percent of the Area Median Income, according to the California Department of Housing & Community Development.

Olympic swimmer joins pool of City Council candidates
Anne Cribbs, an Olympic swimmer and longtime champion of Bay Area sports, is now setting her sights on her next big competition: the Palo Alto City Council. Cribbs, who currently serves on Palo Alto’s Parks and Recreation Commission, is well known for both her athletic accomplishments and her passionate advocacy for local sports. In 1959, when she was just 14, she took gold for breastroke in 200 meters in the Pan American Games.
