YouTuber with over 3M followers killed in crash on I-25 near Fort Collins

DENVER ( KDVR ) — Colorado State Patrol said Tuesday that 40-year-old Benny Potter, a popular YouTube personality and Colorado resident, was the victim of a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 25 near Fort Collins.

The crash happened Saturday, June 8, at about 9:19 a.m. on southbound I-25 near milepost 267.5.

According to CSP, Potter was in his silver Toyota 4Runner when it drove off the right shoulder of the interstate.

Potter continued to cross over the frontage road, which runs parallel to the interstate, before the vehicle rolled multiple times. CSP said Potter was wearing his seatbelt but succumbed to his injuries and died on the scene. He was the only person in the vehicle, and no other vehicles were involved.

Potter ran a popular YouTube channel, Comicstorian , which had 3.02 million subscribers.

His wife, Nathalie, posted the news on social platform X on Monday.

“Ben spent over 10 years spreading his love and appreciation for his hobbies,” the announcement said. “It was through his love of exciting stories and well-written characters that got him started on YouTube.”

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, but CSP said there were no indications that impairment or excessive speed were involved.
