A Southern-inspired breakfast spot is moving into the space recently vacated by another breakfast favorite.
Another Broken Egg Cafe, which has restaurants in 16 states, mostly in the South, expects to open this fall in southeast Fort Collins.
The location will be in the former The Original Pancake House, 2909 E. Harmony Road. (The Original Pancake House moved down the road to the old Village Inn site, 1402 E. Harmony Road, earlier this year.)
Father and son Marc and Zach Rogers and their partner, Brian Jones, have a franchise agreement to bring five locations to Northern Colorado, and they're starting in Fort Collins.
The Rogerses own all 16 Fuzzy's Taco franchises in Colorado, including the one that will be next door to Another Broken Egg Cafe. They also opened Newk's Eatery last year at 1700 S. College Ave., and own Mash Lab Brewing in Windsor, 4487 Highland Meadows Parkway.
"We love brunch and breakfast food," Zach Rogers said, so they searched for a concept they liked and fell in love with the Another Broken Egg Cafe brand.
Marc Rogers said they were drawn to its Southern-inspired food, scratch cooking and full brunch, and they thought breakfast was a great segment to be in.
"There's always a need for brunch no matter where you go," Zach said. "Everyone's on a wait."
Another Broken Egg Cafe's offers a large menu featuring traditional breakfasts, omelets and "scramblers," chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, and several eggs Benedict dishes featuring smoked salmon, crab cakes, shrimp, hashbrowns and more.
There are Biscuit Beignets, a Country Power Bowl, Apple Fritter French Toast, Lemon Blueberry Goat Cheese Pancakes and more in the same vein.
There are also burgers, sandwiches and a salad offering, according to the restaurant's menu online.
"They have an expansive gluten-free menu, which we thought was fantastic," Marc said. "They have a vegan menu. They have mocktails, which are popular now."
The restaurant owners hope to open in November or December.
Marc Rogers said he hopes their second Another Broken Egg Cafe location will be in the Loveland or Windsor area because it's closer to where they live. Future locations could be anywhere north of Denver, like Westminster, Brighton or Longmont.
Marc Rogers has been in the restaurant business for 35 years and moved to Colorado in 2010 to open the first Colorado Fuzzy's franchise. Zach was born into the business, and Jones has been working with Marc Rogers since he was 14 years old.
While March had intended to open the first Fuzzy's in Colorado Springs, when he came to Colorado, he drove up to Fort Collins on a whim and never left.
"We’re very excited to open this in Fort Collins," Marc Rogers said said. "This area of Northern Colorado is very dear to our heart. We live here, work here, raise our kids here."
"What were very proud of is we employ 700 people in Colorado," he said. "That is something I like to celebrate."
