An investigation into the nature of a relationship between Poudre School District Superintendent Brian Kingsley and a district employee is complete, but it could be more than a week before the findings are made public.

The PSD Board of Education plans to issue a statement regarding the outcome of the investigation once all seven members are briefed on the final report, school board president Kristen Draper told the Coloradoan in an email. Some members are out of town this week, “so, I anticipate it may be next week before a statement is provided.”

Draper’s email Tuesday evening is the only response the Coloradoan has received to multiple requests to view the findings of the investigation.

The Coloradoan also asked district communications coordinator Emily Shockley for access to view the full report on Monday and filed a formal Colorado Open Records Act request for the report Tuesday.

As of Wednesday morning, the report still had not been provided to the Coloradoan for review.

When asked if they had seen the investigation, board members Kevin Havelda, Carolyn Reed and Conor Duffy said Wednesday morning they had not and were trying to schedule appointments later this week with Autumn Aspen, PSD’s general legal counsel, to do so.

“I have been made aware that the full report is available and am shuffling my schedule around to review it as soon as possible, so that we can get back to the vital business of educating our students,” Havelda said in a text message.

Why did PSD investigate Brian Kingsley and another employee?

The school board hired an outside investigator in May to determine the nature of Kingsley’s relationship with a district employee , multiple school board members said at the time, speaking on the condition of anonymity. The decision to hire an outside investigator was made in one or more executive sessions related to personnel and legal matters that frequently follow the public portion of Board of Education meetings.

The Coloradoan is not naming the employee or their position with PSD at this time.

Kingsley has denied having any inappropriate relationship with the district employee and told the Coloradoan in May that an internal human resources investigation found “absolutely nothing.”

“These baseless rumors are completely unfounded and entirely false,” he wrote in a May 24 text message.
