Colorado State University was named one of America's best employers for women by Forbes.

The national business publication published its annual list of “America’s Best Employers For Women 2024" last week, and CSU was No. 64.

Booz Allen Hamilton, a professional services company, was No. 1, Cleveland State University was No. 2 and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle was No. 3.

CSU finished just ahead of employers including General Mills (67), Rutgers University (68) and the University of California, Berkley (70).

Colorado State was the highest-rated educational employer in the state of Colorado on the list.

CSU shared its ranking on Source , an online publication of the university’s marketing and communications team.

Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista to compile its list of the nation’s top 600 employers for women for the seventh consecutive year. More than 150,000 women working at companies with 1,000 or more employees were surveyed.

    CSU has nearly 10,000 employees.

The survey asked women how likely they were to recommend current and past employers, and whether they would recommend any employers they knew through their industry or through family and friends who work there.

They were then asked to rate their current employers in areas that included: working environment, pay equity, parental leave, and the company’s handling of incidents related to sexual misconduct and discrimination. Responses from the past three years were considered. Statista analysts researched the percentage of women in executive and board of director positions at each company. A scoring system was then created to weight that information, with responses from current employees given more value than those from previous years or previous employees.

The Cherry Creek School District was the only other educational employer in Colorado to make the list, ranking No. 138.
