Cast a Line of Knowledge: Texas Parks and Wildlife Hosts Free Fishing Clinic for Locals
On July 23, the community has a chance to hook some knowledge along with some fish at the free Learn to Fish Clinic. Hosted by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department in collaboration with MWR staff, the clinic will offer locals from ages 6 and up an opportunity to dive into the basics of fishing from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. However, those interested should act quickly. Registration is required on Saturday, July 20th, and space is capped at the first 20 individuals to sign up, according to MWR Fort Worth.

Driver and passenger identified in fatal Odessa crash
ODESSA, Texas — Authorities have identified the victims in a fatal crash that occurred late Friday night. The driver has been identified as 28-year-old Adan Olivas Hidalgo of Mexico, and the passenger as 41-year-old Maria Belmares Martinez of Idalou, Texas, according to a press release from the Odessa Police Department. The crash happened around 11:30 p.m. on July 12 at the intersection of 22nd Street and Golder Avenue. Investigators revealed that a black 2018 Nissan Altima was traveling eastbound in the 600 block of West 22nd Street at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control. The vehicle struck a street sign and the north fence of Bowie Middle School before crashing into the west side of the school building, where it came to rest. Both Hidalgo and Martinez were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities believe speed and alcohol were factors in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
