Huskies shut out the Warriors with statement win in season opener
By Ray Hamill — The No. 1 team in the Humboldt Sports Preseason Power Rankings lived up to the billing on a record-setting night at Husky Field on Friday. The Fortuna Huskies got the new season off to an impressive start with a 22-0 shutout victory over the Del Norte Warriors, as longtime head coach Mike Benbow set a new program record with his 122nd career victory.
Del Norte County Airport Receives Grant to Resurface Runways
The Border Coast Regional Airport Authority will soon be receiving a $7.26 million grant from the Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration. The funds will be directed to restore the runway at the Del Norte Regional Airport (CEC). The Grant was announced by 2nd District Representative Jared Huffman who stated,“ investing in airport maintenance is essential for the safety of travelers and to the economy (of Del Norte county). I’m glad to have delivered this funding to boost safety, commerce and tourism in air travel.” BCRAA Director Ryan Cooley praised the Announcement. “This project represents a commitment to ensuring that our Airport remains a reliable, modern facility that supports the diverse needs now and in the future.” The project rehabilitates almost one mile ( 5,002 ft))of existing paved Runway 18/36 to maintain the structural integrity and minimize foreign object debris to extend its useful life.

New cannabis cafe bill heads to governor’s desk
