Individual Stats Leader for Chargers Softball
We take a look at individual leaders in the main statistics for AC/GC Chargers softball. Reagan Carney led the team in hits with 29 and RBI’s with 25. Mersadez Richter reached on error the most at four times, and Carney also led in total bases with 43. Richter led in runs with 25, while Jacie Baker led in stolen bases and stolen base attempts, reaching on three of four attempts.
Hampton-Dumont Breaks Ground on Summer Projects, Preparing for Bond Vote in November
The Hampton-Dumont School District is preparing for another bond vote in November. The school hosted an information booth on its proposed $17 million bond referendum vote during last week’s Franklin County Fair. Woman looking for bride after finding wedding dress on highway
GREENE COUNTY, Iowa (KCCI) - A woman made an unusual discovery last month while driving with her husband. She spotted a wedding dress lying on the side of the road and now, she is trying to track down the owner. The wedding dress was found just north of Rippey, Iowa.
Three People Arrested for Assault in Red Oak
(Red Oak) Three people face assault charges following an incident in Red Oak. According to the press release, the charges stem from an incident in the 1800 block of N. 4th Street on Saturday night. As a result of the investigation, Officers arrested 35-year-old Micaela Morales and 35-year-old Douglas Walter Penry, both from Stanton, and 40-year-old Arthur Finton McCarthy of Ankeny.
Jaidyn Sellers Makes All District Softball Team
In her final season with the Panorama Panthers, Jaidyn Sellers claims her place on the Class 2A Southwest All District team for softball. Sellers was a member of the Panther softball team for five years, and was the hit leader as an 8th grader with 25 hits while playing at the varsity level for the first time. Jaidyn would transform into a leader and vital member of the Panther softball team during her five year career.

This program is specifically designed for adults 18 and. older whose first language is not English, aiming to improve their speaking, reading, writing, and. listening skills in a supportive, friendly environment.

Friday, the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office conducted a targeted traffic enforcement project from 8 AM to noon. Four additional deputies were out along Iowa 60 and U.S. 75, focusing on speeding, seatbelt use, and distracted driving. This resulted in 11 citations, including two for speeding, and two for seatbelt use – and 40 warnings, including ten for speeding and three for seatbelt use. This project is funded in part by a grant from the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau. Iowa has had 154 fatality crashes this year. In 43% of those crashes, a seatbelt was not used.
Bluejays Raced Around the Basepaths
The Perry baseball team had a team On Base Percentage of .343 as they went 11-19 last season. The offense had a down year, but when the Bluejays reached base they saw success. Perry was able to steal 42 of 48 chances this most recent season. Owen Myers used his elite speed to swipe a team high 24. The junior was caught just three times. 24 steals by Myers is the most in nearly a decade by a Bluejay. He ranks 23rd in the state out of 3A athletes ahead of the State Tournament. Geren Kenney stole 7 bases for second on the team. Drake Levan chipped in going four for four in stolen base attempts. Perry will hope to reach base more often next year which should lead to more stolen base opportunities.
Proposed homeless ordinance for Des Moines is unethical
Jason Benell lives in Des Moines with his wife and two children. He is a combat veteran, former city council candidate, and president of Iowa Atheists and Freethinkers. Many are concerned about the direction the Des Moines City Council is taking, particularly concerning the homeless population—some of our least fortunate neighbors and fellow citizens. This approach lays bare the apparent goal of the sitting councilors who support this policy: they do not believe unhoused folks deserve the same level of respect and dignity as other citizens. They are willing to cast them outside of the Des Moines city limits, if not completely outside of our society.
Panther Football Camp Begins On August 5th
With the football season just under a month and a half away, the Panthers will start to prepare for action with the Panorama High School Football Camp. From August 5th through the 8th, Panther athletes from 9-12th grade will come together to practice, lift and even share meals together in preparation for the football season. Players are asked to bring the essentials everyday, including: multiple sets of clothes, football gear, lifting shoes, water bottles, and any other useful equipment that may be needed. With paintballing as one of the team activities, waivers will be sent home to families and must be brought back to participate before the activities. This years camp cost $75 per person, and will include: five meals, snacks, Gatorade, paint-balling, swimming, and the Central Iowa Football Camp.
