Port Huron Civic Theatre to put on 'SpongeBob the Musical'
PORT HURON — A cartoon that many have grown up with is being brought to life on stage at McMorran Place. "SpongeBob the Musical" is based off the Nickelodeon cartoon "SpongeBob SquarePants," which follows the sea sponge, SpongeBob, and his friends in Bikini Bottom. The musical will take its audience through their very own episode of the cartoon. Director Danyel Lloyd said Port Huron Civic Theatre wanted to put on a fun show that could showcase the variety of talent the community has to offer.
BWAT offering free rides for Blue Water fest
It’s just become a little easier to get to and from family night and boat night thanks to Blue Water Area Transit. The local transportation agency is providing free rides to and from the festival footprint both Thursday and Friday from 4pm to midnight. There will be a shuttle service that will be running from Desmond Landing to the Blue Water Transit Center. Festival goers are encouraged to park for free at Desmond Landing and then take the bus to the transit center. Fares will also be waived on all routes during those times, For more information, visit bwbus.com.

I’m writing to respectfully challenge David Bonior’s opinion column published online on Sunday, July 7 (“Time for Biden to give way to Harris.”) I agree with Mr. Bonior’s assessment of Vice-President Harris and echo his praise of her, but he and others who are calling for her to replace Mr. Biden on the ticket are setting her up to be blamed for losing an election they already believe is lost.

Border Patrol Stops Cross-Border Smuggling Event on St. Clair River
DETROIT - On June 25, U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Marysville Border Patrol Station arrested four individuals after observing a vessel which originated in Canadian waters on the St. Clair River make landfall on to U.S. shoreline. The vessel dropped off three passengers who then got into a waiting vehicle. Collaborative efforts between U.S. and Canadian law enforcement partners resulted in the arrest of the driver of the vessel after he returned to Canada.

Port Huron prepares for a parade
Wednesday’s Rotary International Day Parade is the official kick off to this year’s Blue Water Fest. The parade will begin at Huron and Glenwood Avenue, continue south through the downtown business district, and turn east on Court Street to the disbanding area. PORT HURON — St. Clair County Community College will now offer free tuition thanks to the state's new school aid budget. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer recently highlighted the new school aid budget, which allows every high school graduate to earn their associates degree or skills certificate from an in-district community college tuition-free. This budget will save more than 18,000 students up to $4,800 a year.
