Strong Gas Odor Reported in Clyde Township
The Iowa County Communications Center received a report of a strong gas odor in the house/garage area of a residence on County Road I in Clyde Township Saturday around 1:14pm. Lone Rock Fire and EMS responded to the residence. No injuries or illnesses were reported as a result of the incident.
Wrong way I-69 crash results in critical injuries
A head-on collision last night on I-69 in Capac resulting in critical injuries to a wrong-way driver. Police were called on reports of light-colored sedan driving in the wrong direction on Westbound I-69 near the Capac Road exit began coming in just before 10 pm. A short time later, the vehicle reportedly collided with a pick-up truck hauling a recreation trailer, east of the exit. The driver of the sedan was extricated by local fire crews and airlifted to an Ann Arbor area hospital with reports of serious injuries to both legs. They were last known to be in critical condition. The truck’s driver declined on-site medical treatment. The crash forced a closure of westbound I-69 and one lane of the eastbound span during rescue, clean-up, and investigation.

U.S. Border Patrol Thwarts Cross-Border Smuggling Attempt on St. Clair River Near Detroit
Officials have cracked down on a human smuggling operation in Metro Detroit after agents witnessed a boat illegally crossing from Canada into the United States, resulting in the arrest of five individuals. On June 25, U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Marysville Station observed the vessel on the St. Clair River as it dropped off three passengers on the U.S. shoreline who then proceeded to quickly get into a waiting car. According to WWJ News Radio, the individuals were swiftly apprehended by the authorities.
