Repairs slated for portion of 21 Mile Road in Chesterfield Township
Road work is set to begin Friday along a portion of 21 Mile Road in Chesterfield Township. Longitudinal joint repair work will be done on 21 Mile Road between Interstate 94 and Jefferson Avenue. The road will remain open to traffic with intermittent flagging operations in place during construction operations, according to the Macomb County Department of Roads.

Area police officer hit by fleeing vehicle
A Chesterfield Township police officer was injured Monday morning after being hit by a vehicle occupied by a pair of fleeing suspects. Around 11 a.m., three males entered the Walmart store on Marketplace Boulevard and stole over $1,000 worth of merchandise, according to police. Walmart loss prevention recognized at least one of the individuals, who has stolen from other area Walmart stores previously, and contacted police while the suspects were leaving the store.

Richmond officials address trash pickup concerns
Richmond Mayor Tim Rix on July 15 addressed recent concerns from community members regarding trash pickup under Priority Waste. Priority recently purchased GLF Environmental residential waste collection service. On June 3, the Richmond City Council approved a proposal from Priority Waste for a five-year contract, with services that began July 1. Rix referenced local news reports that other communities have also experienced customer concerns with Priority Waste service.
8th annual Wheels on the Waterfront car show set in Port Huron
The eighth annual Mainstreet Memories Wheels on the Waterfront car show is expected to bring thousands of spectators to downtown Port Huron on July 27. The event, which will take place on the downtown waterfront property by Desmond Landing, will start at 10 a.m. with an opening ceremony and will run until 4 p.m. It is a non-judged car show and all years, makes and models are welcomed.

Marine City Commission approves contracts for water main, plant upgrades
Marine City Commissioners on July 11 approved bids and contracts for a Drinking Water State Revolving Fund project. “We had two bids that were solicited,” City Manager Scott Adkins said. “Bids were received here on June 26, opened, reviewed, and we have thus a recommendation from our consulting engineers in regards to this project and some specific resolutions that are required by (the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy).”

MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – Police in Macomb County are asking for help in finding two men who injured an officer while fleeing from a crime scene. Two of the three men were suspected of shoplifting $1,000 worth of merchandise from a Chesterfield Township Walmart on Monday (July 15) at 11 a.m.
