Richmond parish festival on the go with fan-favorite events
St. Augustine Catholic Church is on the go with golfing, a cruise-in and cornhole this summer, as the church’s annual Parish Festival returns to Richmond Aug. 8 to 11. Festival Chairperson Valerie Oehmke said via email on July 5 that the St. Augustine Parish Festival remains the church’s largest fundraiser of the year. Although there is no cost to attend the festival as a whole, proceeds raised from individual activities at the festival benefit the church.
Incumbent Lenox Township supervisor challenged in primary
Incumbent Lenox Township Supervisor Anthony Reeder Jr. is facing opposition in the Aug. 6 primary election. Reeder, a Republican, is being challenged by Scott Clifford, a Republican and current township trustee. The winner will advance to compete with Democrat Aaron Scott Bowdich for the supervisor seat in the fall general election.

With summer in full swing, the Croswell City Council met this past Monday to provide citizens with construction updates and future Pioneer Days Exploratory Meetings. Despite running into some hurdles with asphalt top coating, council members reported that work on Wells Street is still going strong. A formal construction meeting will be held next week to discuss the official start date for Ward Street. It was also announced that the July 1 Pioneer Days Exploratory Meeting was a resounding success. There were plenty of people present and plenty of ideas thrown around.
Kids to take center stage at New Haven talent show
Potential future “America’s Got Talent” contestants can hone their craft on a local stage this summer, when Haven Place hosts a Kids Got Talent Contest. The Kids Got Talent Contest will be part of Haven Place’s Family Day Event, set for Aug. 10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in New Haven. The free event will include carnival games, a 5K, a Sud Zone and more. The talent contest is set to be held at 11 a.m. and will offer cash prizes for first, second and third place.
