Firefighters with help from aircraft have gained the upper hand on a wildfire that's scorched about 250 acres on the Fort Hall Reservation.

The blaze was reported around 1:30 p.m. Sunday near Little Indian Road northeast of Blackfoot, the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes reported.

Firefighters from the Fort Hall, Blackfoot and Shelley fire departments as well as the Bureau of Indian Affairs and Bureau of Land Management responded to the blaze and quickly called in firefighting aircraft including large air tankers to help keep the flames from spreading.

The Shoshone-Bannock Tribes report that firefighters expect to have the blaze fully contained by 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

Firefighters will remain on the scene until early Monday evening to make sure the fire is out.

The fire did not result in any injuries, evacuations or damage to structures, the tribes said.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
