Former Yankees pitcher who threw perfect game opts out of Pirates deal
Right-hander Domingo German was released by the Pirates this week, per the transaction log at MiLB.com. He’d been pitching with their Triple-A affiliate in Indianapolis. Robert Murray of FanSided reports that German exercised an opt-out clause in his contract, prompting the release. The Bucs remain open to bringing him back, per Murray — presumably on a new minor league pact.

The 175th anniversary of an Antrim Township landmark that’s survived against the odds will be celebrated Friday and Saturday, July 26 and 27. Martin’s Mill Bridge still spans the east branch of the Conococheague Creek outside of Greencastle, in spite of condemnation, the destructive force of a hurricane and age-related deterioration.
This Week in Pittsburgh History: The Pirates Find a New Home
On July 16, 1970, the Pittsburgh Pirates played their first game at their new home: Three Rivers Stadium. The Pirates lost the game 3-2 to the Cincinnati Reds, the same team they’d lose to in the National League Championship Series. They ended the season with a 89-73 record, giving them their first National League East title.

Nick Dawkins will have a critical role for the Penn State football team this fall. And he’ll be shouldering those responsibilities with a thinner build. ARLINGTON (KDKA) - All eyes were focused on Texas on Tuesday night as the Pirates rookie phenom Paul Skenes began the night as the National League's starting pitcher in the 2024 MLB All-Star Game. In the 94th Midsummer Classic, Skenes was able to toss a scoreless first inning, facing four batters, and showing off his triple-digit skills, topping out at 100.1 mph. His first batter was the Guardians' Steven Kwan who hit into a pop-fly for the first out, followed by a comebacker from Gunnar Henderson of the Orioles. Allegheny County District Attorney's Office experiences limited communication due to cyberattack
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - A cyberattack has impacted communications for the Allegheny County District Attorney's Office as of this morning. According to their website, their computer servers are shut down at this time. They also added that they have limited access to email and their desk phones are up and running, but they do not have voicemail capabilities. Anyone who has to contact the office can do so by calling one of two numbers: 412-915-6914 or 412-879-7548.
