AmericaJR’s Jason Rzucidlo recently visited the site of the former Auto Club Speedway along Cherry Avenue in Fontana, Calif. It was a 2.000 mi (3.219 km), D-shaped oval superspeedway in unincorporated San Bernardino County, California. The racetrack was located 47 mi (76 km) east of Los Angeles and was near the former locations of Ontario Motor Speedway and Riverside International Raceway. The track was last owned and operated by NASCAR. In 2023, the track was closed for reconstruction as part of the Next Gen California racing project. Demolition of Auto Club Speedway began in October 2023. In 2023, NASCAR sold 433 acres of the former race track for around $544 million. A major logistics development called Speedway Commerce Center is being built on 364 acres of the land.

A road rage incident in San Bernardino County has led to the arrest of a 62-year-old Fontana resident after firearms were discovered during the investigation. The confrontation took place on Thursday near Glen Helen Parkway and Clearwater Parkway. According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department, following an altercation involving a firearm, the suspect, Sandy Thomas, was detained by deputies and a search warrant was executed at his residence.

Thunderstorms moving across Northern California on Saturday dropped heavy rain across parts of the region. The rain hit Roseville and Granite Bay from 2:30 to 4:10 p.m., Meteorologist Dirk Verdoorn said. Douglas Boulevard in Roseville flooded during the storm, the viewer video above shows. Record-Breaking Rainfall Hits Northwestern California
Northwestern California experienced a record-breaking rainfall event yesterday, August 23, shattering previous records in Eureka and Crescent City for the day. Woodley Island in Eureka recorded 1.19 inches of rain, breaking the previous record of 0.27 inches set in 1997. Crescent City saw 2.05 inches of rain, eclipsing the former record of 0.12 inches from 1975.
