Fort Leonard Wood has identified a deceased soldier found July 12 at an on-post residence.

He is Cpl. Robert Wilson III, 23, who was a human resources non-commissioned officer assigned to the 84th Chemical Battalion when he was found shot.

Circumstances surrounding the incident continue to be under investigation by Fort Leonard Wood law enforcement and the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division, officials said.

“Our deepest condolences and sincerest sympathies are with the soldier’s family, friends and unit during this difficult time,” said Maj. Gen. Chris Beck, Maneuver Support Center of Excellence and Fort Leonard Wood commanding general. “Our main concern is caring for the family and those impacted, and ensuring they have all the resources and support they need during this time.”
