Celebration of life for Lawrence A. Davies Jr.
A visitation will be held in the Fredericksburg City Council Chambers (Hanover entrance) of City Hall, 715 Princess Anne Street, from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024, to honor the Rev. Lawrence A. Davies Jr.’s civic service. An additional visitation will be held at Fredericksburg Baptist Church, 1019 Princess Anne Street, at 9 a.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2024, followed by a memorial service at 10 a.m. which will be live-streamed to Shiloh Baptist Church (Old Site), 801 Sophia Street. Interment will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens with a repast afterward at Shiloh Old Site.

Community Rallies to Support Family Grieving the Loss of Teenage Daughter
The Olney community is rallying to support the family of Athena Greco, a Sherwood High School student who tragically died on August 23rd. As of 11:30am, over $11,000 has been raised via GoFundMe to support Athena’s mother in covering “the cost of getting Athena back to Maryland, medical, funeral rent and bills as she will be off of work for sometime to take care of things.” Additional information, per the GoFundMe fundraiser can be seen below:

1 dead, 3 hospitalized in quadruple shooting in Chester
Police are investigating a shooting out of Delaware County.Officials say at least 30 shots were fired in a deadly shooting in Chester.It happened at the intersection of Butler and Concord streets around 11:45 p.m. Saturday.Police say four people were shot.One victim died at the scene.Three others are hospitalized.One of the men is listed in critical condition, while the other two are listed in stable condition.Investigators have not revealed a motive for the shooting.
