Keep Lee County Beautiful Inc. wants you to take a swing at protecting the environment.

Keep Lee County Beautiful is partnering with Beach Talk Radio for an evening of fundraising at Top Golf in Fort Myers.

The event happens from 6-8 p.m, Thursday, Feb. 29.

Each year, Keep Lee County Beautiful engages thousands of volunteers in more than 350 community improvement initiatives, to improve the environmental health and natural beauty of the places we call home.

Since Hurricane Ian, Keep Lee County Beautiful has had 3,760 volunteers who have dedicated more than 11,000 hours removing 121,920 pounds of hurricane litter and debris from some of our most environmentally sensitive areas. Now that our area is slowly getting back into the rebuilding process, Keep Lee County Beautiful volunteers have planted 145 trees and shrubs in an effort to reestablish the tree canopy across our community.

Proceeds from the Top Golf Fundraiser will be used toward their continuing waterway cleanups. Last year alone, Keep Lee County Beautiful held multiple waterway cleanups, removing 26,517 pounds of hurricane debris from our coastal waters. “These waterway cleanups are crucial as the county continues to recover,” said Trish Fancher, Keep Lee County Beautiful executive director. “We couldn’t be more grateful for the hard work and dedication of the volunteers to help make our waters cleaner and safer.”
