Innovators honored in new downtown attraction

Plans for The Fort Myers Walk of Innovation. The interactive sidewalk will honor forward thinkers and their accomplishments.

The downtown Fort Myers riverfront will soon be dedicated to people honored for their ideas.

The Fort Myers Walk of Innovation will create an interactive sidewalk in Centennial Park.

In the same spirit of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford sparking the genesis of innovation in Fort Myers, the Innovation Walk will reignite their legacy of human genius, melding the past with future-forward thinkers.

The path will begin at the near the Common Friends monument and move along the Calooshatchee.

The Fort Myers CRA and Edison Universe Solutions are developing the project.

“The Edison Awards are honored to support the vision of the CRA and continue the legacy of innovation in Fort Myers. The Innovation Walk will celebrate innovation and innovators creatively by developing a special experience along the riverfront that will attract and inspire the community and future generations of innovators,” said Frank Bonafilia, executive director for the Edison Awards.

Phase one of the project will be completed by April 2025. It will consist of three to five panels honoring the innovators. ¦
