‘Aiming for Ability’

LARC’s Aiming for Ability clay shooting tournament takes place on May 3. Last year, the event raised $25,000.

Get ready to fire as the Lee Association for Remarkable Citizens (LARC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing support and opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), will host the sixth annual “Aiming for Ability” Clay Shooting Tournament.

The event will happen on Friday, May 3, outdoors at Sarasota Trap Skeet & Clays in Nokomis.

All proceeds will benefit LARC’s programs and services that help individuals with IDD achieve. Last year’s event raised $25,000.

The tournament provides participants with a fun and meaningful way to contribute to the cause while enjoying a day of outdoor recreation. Registration begins at 8:45 a.m. A mandatory safety meeting is at 9:30 a.m.; at 10 a.m. Lunch and awards will immediately follow. The entry fee is $200 per person, including lunch, ear protection, 100 targets, four boxes of ammunition and a golf cart. Sponsorships begin at $750 for a foursome and include marketing incentives. Participants must be 18 years old. Shotgun rentals are available for a fee. In addition, first- through third-place teams will receive trophies. Participants will be able to bid for items in chance drawings and an auction.

“Established in 1954, LARC has been a cornerstone in the community, offering vocational training, residential services, and a vast array of community inclusion programs to help individuals lead fulfilling lives,” said Angela Katz, LARC’s executive director. “By participating in the tournament or becoming a sponsor, individuals and businesses can directly support LARC’s mission of empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities achieve their full potential.”

LARC serves more than 300 individuals annually, and participants range from 14 to 80. LARC’s main campus is located at 2570 Hanson Street, Fort Myers. LARC also operates two Residential Group Homes located in Fort Myers and Cape Coral. For details, visit larcleecounty.org/ . ¦
