Fort Myers, FL - Three children were hospitalized with minor injuries after a church van crashed into their Southwest Florida home on Tuesday.

Authorities say the van, belonging to the First Haitian Baptist Church and Christian Academy, collided with a home on Braman Avenue in Fort Myers early Tuesday morning.

The Fort Myers Police Department confirmed a family was present in the home at the time of the incident.

Three children were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries but have been released.

Investigators initially believed a mechanical issue with the van was the cause of the crash.

However, Fort Myers police later clarified that the 78-year-old driver experienced a medical episode that may have contributed to the crash.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the van, walked away from the incident with no major injuries and sought medical attention.
