Planned Water Outage in Cedar Bluff Wednesday
Cedar Bluff Utilities has announced a planned water outage beginning at 11am today (Wednesday, July 24th). The outage will affect the area from Neely Street to the Cedar Bluff Bridge, as the water will be shut off for approximately 30 minutes to an hour, while crews conduct fire hydrant repairs.
Alabama students target international rocketry crown at Farnborough
A team of high school students from Alabama will compete for global honors in rocket building at the 2024 Farnborough International Airshow. The students from Tharptown High School in Russellville won the American Rocketry Challenge in May, topping 922 teams in the overall competition and the top 100 that faced off in the national finals in The Plains, Virginia.
Woodstock 5K: Run and Win the Alabama Championship
ANNISTON — The 43rd annual Woodstock 5K will again serve as the Alabama 5K Championship, as sanctioned by the Road Runners Club of America. The Woodstock 5K is scheduled for Aug. 3 at Anniston High School along Woodstock Avenue It has played host for 17 RRCA championship races, including six national championships, five regional championships and six state championships. The race is organized by the Anniston Runners Club, a local non-profit organization.

UPDATE: 16-year-old killed in Sheffield shooting
A 16-year-old girl is dead after a shooting early Wednesday morning. Police say it happened on the 1000 block of South Nashville Avenue about 1 a.m. According to the Sheffield Police Department, when officers arrived, they found the 16-year-old laying in the grass with a single gunshot wound between her shoulder blades.
