Donald Trump's lawyer in his classified documents case was "indignant" that the FBI searched Barron Trump's room , where he kept his Peloton, according to reports. At a hearing in Fort Pierce, Florida , Trump's legal team complained that he 2022 raid of the former President's Mar-a-Lago property was "unnecessary", and "overly broad". Meanwhile, Trump's lawyers also claimed that the search was a violation of the former President's Fourth Amendment rights.

MSNBC correspondent Katie Phang revealed the details of the search, with an update posted on X : "An are-you-kidding-me moment in today's MAL classified docs hearing: Emil Bove, the lawyer for Trump, indignantly exclaims to Judge Cannon that while executing the search warrant on Mar-a-Lago, FBI agents searched the room where Barron Trump's Peloton is located."

The Courthouse News Service, meanwhile, reported on this comment, given Bove's description of the "broad" nature of the warrant. FBI agents searched Melania's and Barron's rooms, and also a home gym in the pristine Florida property.

Bove said: "This was an enormous piece of property, we're not talking about the search of a single-family home or of an apartment. The government has to establish probable cause to search the areas that they've established in [the warrant]."

Prosecutor David Harbach maintains that the FBI personnel "didn't go everywhere" on the property, only to areas that the warrant specified. Harbach said that the bedrooms of Melania and Barron were mentioned in the warrant because Trump had access to these rooms. "There was some evidence that these boxes moved," he said. "It would have been irresponsible for them not to search there."

US District Judge Aileen Cannon, who was appointed during Trump's presidency, questioned the warrant and its propriety. "You'd agree that paperwork is the kind of thing that can be discovered anywhere," she asked lawyers.

There are allegations that Trump attempted to hinder federal efforts to recover classified documents following after his defeat to Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election.

He is charged with 32 counts of willful retention of national defense information under the Espionage Act, along with seven obstruction counts and one count of making false statements. Trump denies all charges, maintaining his innocence.

The court hearing, which kicked off on Friday, also witnessed Trump's legal team arguing that special counsel Jack Smith, who indicted Trump last year, is receiving illegal funding. Judge Cannon listened to the prosecution's plea for a gag order that would prevent Trump from publicly criticizing agents.

She has yet to make a decision on either of these motions and has indefinitely delayed the trial date.
