Work continues on Fort Scott Fire Department training center

FORT SCOTT, Kan. (KOAM) -- The Fort Scott Fire Department is working to provide a new training center for its members.

According to the Fort Scott Fire Department, the new center was approved in April 2024 and since then, they have been working to level the land and pour concrete pillars for the containers used for the project.

The department says the next step is to paint the containers to match the fire station. The training center is set to provide a way for its members to expand their skills to help keep the community safe.

"We are going to take pride in what we are building and are super excited about the future training spot we will have to advance our skill set to protect the community. It has been a long time coming but we finally have our very own. It’s going to take a lot more work to finish but our crews are determined to have it operational by fall," said the Fort Scott Fire Department via Facebook.
