FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KTFA) — The Fort Smith Police Department showcased their exceptional riding skills at the Inaugural Jonesboro Motorcycle Rodeo this past weekend.

Hosted by the Arkansas Municipal Police Association and the Jonesboro Police Department, officers from across the state participated in three individual challenges, including Solo Runs, Team Runs and Slow Ride.

The event provided a platform for Motor Officers to display their gear, equipment, and skills to fellow officers and motorcycle enthusiasts from across Arkansas.

Fort Smith policemen Casey Cagle, Jerrod Davidson, Jonathan Ritter and Jens Sorensen trailed the competition, placing highly in each category.

In Solo Ride, Sorensen placed first, Davidson in second, and Cagle in third, followed by himself and Ritter placing first and third in Slow Ride as well. Officer Cagle was awarded the Overall Winner prize for the competition.

This showcase of the officer’s riding skills is not only critical for their daily duties but also highlights the levels of dedication and positive representation the Fort Smith Police Department has to offer in our communities, the release said.

The men were commended for their commitment to building lasting relationships with other departments and their kindness paid to event viewers at the rodeo.

In addition to all of the performances and honors awarded, the Motorcycle Rodeo also serves to amplify recruiting efforts in order to advertise the department’s abilities and the “effectiveness of our newly created Traffic Unit,” the release said.

“These officers have demonstrated their expertise and have returned with a renewed confidence in their abilities,” Patrol Special Operations Captain Steven Creek said. “Their success is a testament to our department’s commitment to excellence and community safety.”
