Missoula considers changing code violation penalties from criminal to civil
MISSOULA, Mont. — Missoula City Council is considering code reform for violations within the city. New changes may affect the type of penalty community members could incur. Currently, a number of codes for the city of Missoula don't have specified penalties. In the event of a violation, individuals automatically face a criminal misdemeanor.
Colstrip owners turn to recent Supreme Court ruling that weakens EPA
Colstrip Power Plant owner Talen Energy, in its battle against tougher air pollution laws, is turning to a recent Supreme Court ruling weakening the EPA’s courtroom clout. Talen advised the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit that justices could no longer defer to EPA’s judgment on new emissions standards affecting Colstrip.

Suspected Drug Dealer Arraigned in District Court
A suspected drug dealer was arraigned Tuesday in Fourth Judicial District Court. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details. The state is alleging that between May of 2023 and September 7, 2023, 32-year-old Randy Romeo conspired with Katelynn Bulkley to deliver cocaine in the Sheridan area. Romeo, at Tuesday’s hearing, pleaded not guilty to the charge of conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance – cocaine. Romeo appeared for the arraignment remotely from the Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution because he is currently serving a 3 to 5 year prison sentence for a prior felony drug possession conviction out of Campbell County.
