FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — Phantom Fireworks, located just off of Lima Road, is preparing for their busiest holiday of the year by offering special deals and working to teach safety to all ages.

Phantom Fireworks is one of the largest retailers of consumer fireworks in the United States. They’ve been in operation for more than 40 years. Unlike the pop-up firework shops that you’ll see around Independence Day, Phantom Fireworks is open all year long.

“We are open seven days a week for 12 months out of the year. We’re only closed for two days, on Thanksgiving and Christmas.” says Manager, Laurie Beaverson.

They have a wide variety of fireworks to choose from such as bottle rockets, firecrackers, roman candles, sparklers, fountains, and 500g repeaters. According to Beaverson, the repeaters are their most popular item sold this year. In addition to this, they also sell a few novelty items such as glow sticks, light-up accessories, and safety equipment.

Beaverson says that the company is known for their “No Dud Guarantee” which promises that all fireworks will ignite and explode properly in the sky. In the very rare event a dud is returned, they will replace it for free. Additionally, all products are triple-checked before they hit the shelves for consumer purchase.

“Our inventory, before it gets here, is checked at three different points. It’s checked on the portside in China, portside in the United States, and once it arrives to our warehouse here.” says Beaverson.

As usual, it’s important to keep an eye on your little ones. Beaverson suggests that it’s best to have mom or dad hold sparklers or throw snaps for their little ones. Older children should always be supervised if handling their own sparklers.

For larger fireworks, its best to secure them in their place on a solid, flat surface. You can use bricks to surround the base of the firework to prevent it from sliding around upon firing. Dousing it with water extinguishes the heat.

More safety tips can be found on their website or in person at their showroom.

This year, customers were given the option to round-up their transaction to the nearest dollar at the register. The collected funds were used to make a generous donation to both the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Fort Wayne Fire Department in recognition of their efforts to keep the public safe during the holiday.

Phantom Fireworks will be open all week, including the Fourth of July.
