NEWTON, Kan. (WANE) – Adaptive golf is about to take center stage this week with the third annual U.S. Adaptive Open. After two years at Pinehurst, the growing golf outing is now heading to the heart of the country at Sand Creek Station.

Once again, northeast Indiana will be well-represented in this year’s outing. Bishop Dwenger grad and Western Michigan head women’s golf coach Kim Moore will look to bring home another Adaptive Open title. Moore won the inaugural Adaptive Open in 2022 while also finishing as runner-up last summer. Meanwhile, Fort Wayne native Amy Bockerstette is also in the field for a third straight year.

On the men’s side, Jay County High School grad Evan Mathias is competing for a third straight year. Mathias finished 29th last year, but won the Multiple Limb Amputee category.

The 54-hole tournament runs from Monday – Wednesday in Newton.
