FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Last month, Brayton Thomas was wrapping up his high school baseball career at Bishop Dwenger.

Weeks later, the southpaw’s life could be hearing the call of a lifetime over the next 48-to-72 hours.

Thomas is one of a few northeast Indiana prospects who hope to hear their name in the upcoming MLB Draft. While the left-handed-pitcher is already signed to play college baseball at Indiana University, Thomas has heard from more than a handful of pro baseball scouts.

“Everything that I’ve done, I can,” Thomas told WANE 15 Saturday. “Now it’s just a sit and wait game, but it’s coming, and it’s coming soon enough.”

Thomas led Bishop Dwenger to the Class 3A semi-state round in his senior season. On the bump, Thomas posted a 1.47 ERA while earning 76 strikeouts. Thomas also allowed 20 hits and eight earned runs.

The MLB Draft begins Sunday with the first round and continues through Tuesday.
