‘Something fun and different:’ New EDM Night follows Family Fun Day at TRF

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — Family Fun Day and EDM Night light up Three Rivers Festival on Wednesday complete with animals, gaming and a new headliner for the concert.

Keri Roby, the operations director of the festival, said there are many activities for the whole family to enjoy at Freimann Square. Indiana Wild is bringing a variety of animals for visitors to pet and hold. Easterseals is bringing their gaming trailer for more than 20 gamers to play on XBoxes, PlayStations and Nintendo Switches.

There will also be free face painting, balloon animals and passports for kids to collect a sticker souvenir from each stop around the square.

As Family Fun Day draws to a close, EDM Night kicks off onstage with a few new tweaks. The original headliner of EDM Night, SLUSHII, had to cancel due to illness ; however, Roby said DJ E-Clyps will headline with DJ Arkayde and Joesorf will open.

This is the first year Three Rivers Festival has held an EDM Night. The idea sparked after conversations between promoters and committee members about their positive experiences with attending past EDM concerts.

Roby said she hopes this club music will expand the festival audience.

“We’ve been trying to figure out ways to bring a little something for everyone to the festival,” Roby said. “We thought that it would be something fun and different that Fort Wayne would enjoy.”

Family Fun Day starts at 11 a.m. and goes until 2 p.m. at Freimann Square. EDM Night starts at 7 p.m. and goes to 11 p.m. at Headwaters East Pavilion.
