FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The TinCaps were trampled by Lake County early and often in a 10-4 loss on Saturday night.

With the defeat, Fort Wayne suffers yet another series loss as Lake County has won both games so far in the three-game set.

Lake County blitzed the TinCaps with six runs in the first inning. Fort Wayne allowed a run on a walk with bases loaded. That was followed up by a passed ball that opened the door for another Captains run. Johnny Tincher broke the game open with a grand slam. Umpires ruled the ball grazed the yellow stripe on the outfield wall, giving Lake County a 6-0 lead through half an inning.

Fort Wayne avoided a shutout thanks to a three-run bomb by Joshua Mears. The outfieler mashed his fifth home run of the season to make it a 10-3 game. Griffin Doersching plated another run on a sac fly in the ninth inning, but the TinCaps only mustered three hits all night long.

The TinCaps wrap up their series with Lake County on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. at Parkview Field.
