TinCaps swept by Lake County in series finale

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Despite grabbing an early lead, the TinCaps couldn’t close out Lake County in a 6-3 loss on Sunday at Parkview Field.

With the loss, the Captains sweep Fort Wayne in the three-game series. Fort Wayne has lost all but one series dating back to late May.

The TinCaps grabbed an early 1-0 lead on a RBI double by Griffin Doersching in the bottom of the fourth inning. Lake County grabbed the lead on a two-run blast in the fifth inning, but Colton Bender drove in the tying run in the bottom half with a RBI double himself.

Lake County answered with four unanswered runs over the back half of the ballgame. Doersching chipped away at the deficit with another RBI double in the final inning, but it was too little, too late.

Fort Wayne is off on Monday before heading to Dayton for a six-game series.
