ORLANDO, Fla. (WANE) – Fort Wayne United’s magical run to the U.S. Youth Soccer (USYS) National Championship match fell one win short of the ultimate prize. Both the U19 and U16 girls teams fell in their national title matches on Sunday.

In the U16 match, Fort Wayne United couldn’t overcome a slow start in a 4-2 loss to SABR – Team Boca. The U19 girls team lost their match to Michigan Rangers, 2-1.

Despite finishing as national runner-up, Fort Wayne United’s club teams made history this summer by being the first club teams from the Summit City to reach the USYS national tournament.
