    Introducing the 2024 high school football games to watch. You won’t want to miss them.

    The Texas high school football season is right around the corner with the first game kicking off on Aug. 29.

    Throughout the year, there will be many high stakes matchups. Introducing the Star-Telegram’s preseason games to watch. Introducing the Star-Telegram’s 2024 high school football games to watch.

    Schedules are subject to change, and playoff races will affect the importance of some games.

    WEEK ONE (Aug. 29-31)

    Aledo vs. Denton Guyer, 7:30 p.m. Friday, Collins Complex: Will Aledo have another perfect season? Denton Guyer will be one of its biggest tests.

    Brock vs. Decatur, 7 p.m. Friday, Eagle Stadium: Brock is moving up to Class 4A. Can the Eagles best Decatur, an elite 4A squad? It’ll be a tough, early challenge to start a new era of Brock football.

    Burleson Centennial at Burleson, 7:30 p.m. Friday, BISD Stadium: The Boot Bowl is one of Texas football’s best rivalries. The next chapter will be written in week one.

    Lancaster vs. North Crowley, 2 p.m. Saturday, Ford Center: North Crowley’s treacherous non-district schedule begins with a bang.

    WEEK TWO (Sept. 5-7)

    Mansfield Timberview vs. Denton Ryan, 7 p.m. Thursday, Collins Complex: Two top Class 5A teams will battle it out on the gridiron. Pretty simple.

    Houston North Shore vs. Crowley, 7 p.m. Friday, Crowley ISD Stadium: Crowley’s non district schedule is extremely tough; one of Houston’s best squads will visit.

    North Crowley at DeSoto, 7 p.m. Friday, Eagle Stadium: Can North Crowley take another step towards the top? See how the Panthers stack up against the best in Texas.

    FW Wyatt vs. FW Dunbar, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Clark Stadium: Two of Fort Worth ISD’s top teams will face off. It’s Fort Worth football at its finest.

    WEEK THREE (Sept. 12-14)

    Trophy Club Nelson vs. Southlake Carroll, 7 p.m. Friday, Dragon Stadium: Byron Nelson conquered the Dragon last year, but Carroll got its revenge. The Bobcats will be a tough early game for a hungry, young Carroll squad.

    Denton Guyer vs. North Crowley, 7 p.m. Friday, Crowley ISD Stadium: North Crowley’s challenging non-district schedule continues.

    Decatur at Argyle Liberty Christian, 7 p.m. Friday: Argyle Liberty Christian is fresh off a TAPPS D2 state title , and Decatur is a top Class 4A team. It’s an interesting public vs. private matchup.

    Argyle vs. Mansfield Timberview, 7 p.m. Friday, Newsom Stadium: District 3-5A D2 is absolutely stacked, and this is a matchup between two top teams. It could be a big domino in the district title race.

    WEEK FOUR (Sept. 19-21)

    Southlake Carroll vs. Euless Trinity, 7 p.m. Friday, Pennington Field: It’s one of Texas footballs’ most storied rivalries. Carroll won the last matchup, which was in 2020.

    FW North Side vs. FW Paschal, 7:30 p.m. Friday, Farrington Field: North Side and Paschal are expected to be competitive out of District 4-5A D1.

    Mansfield Timberview vs. Colleyville Heritage, 7 p.m. Friday, Mustang-Panther Stadium: Another District 3-5A D2 game that could be a deciding factor in the district title race.

    Hurst L.D. Bell at Keller, 7 p.m. Thursday, KISD Stadium: This game could factor into which team makes the playoffs.

    WEEK FIVE (Sept. 26-28)

    Euless Trinity vs. Trophy Club Nelson, 7 p.m. Friday, Northwest ISD Stadium: Byron Nelson claimed a district title last year. Trinity will be gunning for that spot.

    NRH Richland vs. NRH Birdville, 7 p.m. Friday, Birdville FA/AC: A classic battle between Birdville ISD teams.

    Colleyville Heritage vs. Argyle, 7 p.m. Friday, Eagle Stadium: These two squads met in the playoffs and delivered an instant classic . The sequel is highly anticipated and could decide the district title race.

    Mansfield at FW Boswell, 7 p.m. Friday: Mansfield and Boswell are expected to fight for a playoff spot out of District 3-6A.

    WEEK SIX (Oct. 3-5)

    Southlake Carroll at Keller, 7 p.m. Friday, KISD Stadium: Is this a rivalry game? Southlake Carroll certainly doesn’t think so. Most rivalries have to be competitive, so the pressure will be on for Keller to have a better performance than last year’s 56-10 loss.

    Denton Ryan at Aledo, 7 p.m. Friday, Bearcat Stadium: Will Denton Ryan be the team to topple Aledo’s historic district win streak? Ryan is one of the top ranked squads in Class 5A.

    FW Chisholm Trail vs. FW Paschal, 7:30 p.m. Friday, Farrington Field: Chisholm Trail and Paschal are both moving down to Class 5A and are expected to compete for a district title; the two teams had a solid game last year with Paschal securing a 31-24 victory.

    FW Boswell vs. Crowley, 7 p.m. Friday, Crowley ISD Stadium: Boswell and Crowley both finished 4-3 in District 3-6A last year. This game could be an important tiebreaker.

    WEEK SEVEN (Oct. 10-12)

    Arlington Lamar vs. South Grand Prairie, 6:30 p.m. Friday, Gopher-Warrior Bowl: South Grand Prairie snuck into the playoffs last year due to a three-way tie. Lamar beat SGP, but did not make the cut. Both teams will be motivated to come out on top in this pivotal placement game.

    Arlington Bowie vs. Arlington Martin, 7 p.m. Friday, Choctaw Stadium: Martin is the team to beat in Arlington ISD. Bowie lost by one point last season. Can the Volunteers take down the Warriors?

    Duncanville at DeSoto, 7 p.m. Friday, Eagle Stadium: Simply put, this is the most important regular season game of the year. Will DeSoto prove once again that its the best in Texas?

    NRH Richland vs. Denton Ryan, 7 p.m. Friday, Collins Complex: Both Denton Ryan and Richland are expected to be top teams in District 3-5A D1.

    WEEK EIGHT (Oct. 17-19)

    Mansfield vs. Mansfield Legacy, 7 p.m. Friday, Newsom Stadium: Legacy is finally out of the district of doom. Can the Broncos take down a Mansfield ISD rival?

    Euless Trinity at Keller, 7 p.m. Friday, KISD Stadium: Euless Trinity has a lot of interesting matchups, and Keller is one of them. How will the Trojans stack up against the Indians?

    Arlington vs. Arlington Bowie, 7 p.m. Friday, Wilemon Field: Arlington is looking to ascend the District 8-6A ladder and Bowie will be one of the toughest challenges.

    FW Wyatt vs. FW Arlington Heights, 7:30 p.m. Friday, Farrington Field: Wyatt and Heights are some of FWISD’s top teams. Heights got the upper hand last year.

    WEEK NINE (Oct. 24-26)

    FW Paschal vs. FW Wyatt, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Clark Stadium: Top spots in District 4-5A D1 are up for grabs, and Paschal and Wyatt should be in the hunt.

    Keller vs. Keller Timber Creek, 7 p.m. Friday, Keller ISD Stadium: Keller and Keller Timber Creek are both looking to take the next step in District 4-6A. A classic battle between KISD squads.

    Arlington Lamar vs. Arlington, 7 p.m. Friday, Choctaw Stadium: There are many competitive matchups in District 8-6A, and this is definitely one of them.

    NRH Richland at Aledo, 7 p.m. Friday, Bearcat Stadium: If Aledo’s district streak is still intact, Richland can threaten it. The Royals have some serious star power.

    WEEK TEN (Oct. 31- Nov. 2)

    Mansfield Timberview at The Colony, 7 p.m. Friday: With the season coming to a close, The Colony and Timberview will surely be fighting for positioning in an ultra competitive district.

    Argyle vs. Grapevine, 7 p.m. Friday, Mustang-Panther Stadium: The Mustangs’ schedule gets tougher as the season moves on. Will Grapevine finish strong?

    Brownwood vs. Stephenville, 7:30 p.m. Friday, Tarleton Memorial Stadium: Two of the best Class 4A programs in one of Texas football’s best rivalries. This one should be intense.

    Hillsboro vs. FW Dunbar, 7:30 p.m. Friday, Clark Stadium: Fort Worth Dunbar is expected to be a playoff contender in District 4-4A D2. This one could determine seeding.

    WEEK 11 (Nov. 7-9)

    Hurst L.D. Bell vs. Euless Trinity, 7 p.m. Thursday, Pennington Field: Last year’s matchup was a wild one with L.D. Bell ending a 25 game losing streak to the Trojans.

    North Crowley vs. Crowley, 7 p.m. Thursday, Crowley ISD Stadium: North Crowley is the king of Fort Worth football. Crowley is rising, and these two CISD schools should put on a show.

    Grapevine vs. Colleyville Heritage, 7 p.m. Friday, Mustang-Panther Stadium: These Grapevine-Colleyville ISD schools have a storied rivalry game: The Red Rail . Colleyville Heritage got the best of Grapevine last year.

    Kennedale vs. Alvarado, 7:30 p.m. Friday, Head Stadium: Kennedale and Alvarado are expected to be top teams in District 6-4A D1. This one could decide the district.
