Utah is playing in its first football season as a member of the Big 12, but the Utes’ upcoming game against Baylor will not count toward league standings.

    Why not?

The reason given by the Big 12 was that because the game had previously been scheduled as a non-conference game before Utah joined the league it would remain as one.

Baylor and Utah aren’t the only teams affected by this as the same reasoning was given for why the Kansas State and Arizona game on Sept. 13 would also count as a non-conference game despite being between two members of the Big 12.

The Bears will play the Utes at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at Rice-Eccles Stadium following their dominating week one 45-3 win over Tarleton State .
