Parts of Interstate 30 near Six Flags Drive were shut down for several hours early Friday after a wrong-way driver crashed into an 18-wheeler, Arlington police said.

Investigators believe a 2012 Acura TL was headed in the wrong direction in the westbound lanes of I-30 around 3 a.m. An 18-wheeler in the same lane swerved to avoid the car, but the Acura’s driver also swerved, according to police. The two vehicles collided.

The Acura’s driver was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Investigators believe the driver was intoxicated, and DWI charges are pending, police said.

The driver of the 18-wheeler suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was also taken to a hospital, officials said.

Several of the westbound lanes were closed Friday morning while crews cleared the wreck, but are now open.
