A man was shot to death early Wednesday after an assailant tried to rob him while they were walking in a southwest Fort Worth parking lot, police said.

The man, whose name and age the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has not released, was shot about 4:45 a.m. in the 600 block of Copperfield Drive, Fort Worth police said.

Officers found the victim’s body on the ground. He was shot in the torso.

The assailant left the scene immediately after the killing, and police did not on Wednesday announce an arrest.
