The Dallas Cowboys were one of the top-ranked teams in national power rankings after week 1 of the NFL season but after a blowout loss against the New Orleans Saints, how far did they fall?

Most pundits soured on the Cowboys following the loss with the team falling outside of the top ten on most lists.

    Todd Archer, ESPN

[Jourdan] Lewis is like a starter as the nickel corner, considering how much the Cowboys play their sub packages defensively. He sets the tone just as much as Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence with his physicality. He is unafraid to set the edge in the run game. He’s capable of working the slot against receivers, tight ends or running backs. By the end of last week’s loss to New Orleans, he was working on the outside, too.

One step forward , one big step backward . The end of the Cowboys’ regular-season home winning streak (16 games) felt a little anticlimactic to me, considering what the Packers did to Dallas at AT&T Stadium in the playoffs , but it’s nonetheless stunning that a team that has been terrific in its own building for two years was throttled from the jump by the visiting Saints.

The roller-coaster ride of being a Cowboys fan never ends, does it? One week after getting Dak Prescott ’s deal done and beating Cleveland by 16 points, Dallas rushed for 68 yards and never led against the Saints. If there’s a bright spot, maybe it’s that CeeDee Lamb got going with four catches for 90 yards, including a 65-yard touchdown that briefly gave Dallas life.

That showing against the Saints was a horrible look for this group. They were dominated in all facets of the game. Now they face a tough one against a Ravens team hungry for a victory.

If anyone knew what Alvin Kamara can do, it was Mike Zimmer.

There was offensive efficiency on Sunday all right. But there was precious little for Cowboys fans to cheer about—because it was the Saints who piled up 432 yards of offense and 24 first downs in a blowout.

So much for home cookin’. “America’s Team” has been shockingly outscored 92-51 in its past two outings at AT&T Stadium … and the next visitor will be a salty Ravens outfit Sunday.

    Frank Schwab, Yahoo Sports

It’s hard to know what to make of the Cowboys. They were great in Week 1, getting pressure on Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson all game. They were horrendous in Week 2 while barely touching Saints QB Derek Carr .

    Dallas Cowboys ranked No. 6

    Conor Orr, Sports Illustrated

The Dallas Cowboys continued a tradition from last year in which they shove around a vulnerable opponent early in the season and then leave themselves totally exposed to an uppercut knockout. Could the Cowboys have simply been exposed given that Klint Kubiak knew Mike Zimmer intimately and designed an offense to beat it?

What was that? The Cowboys broke down everywhere against the Saints: Offensive line, defensive line, running game, pass rush, overall defense, and quarterback. The problem is, that’s closer to their current profile with Dak Prescott and DC Mike Zimmer than their playoff-level prowess in 2023, especially after returning to home woes to begin 2024.
