Two-inch hail reported in DFW after stormy Tuesday. Is there more in the forecast?

A cold front rolled through Dallas-Fort Worth on Tuesday, bringing storms and hail to the region.

National Weather Service Fort Worth received reports of hail 2 inches in diameter in Frisco and Hebron late Tuesday, meteorologist Allison Prater said. There was also a few reports of hail 1 inch in diameter in The Colony.

Hail 1-inch in diameter is quarter-sized, while 2 inches in diameter is the size of a hen egg, according to the NWS .

Storms moved out of Dallas-Fort Worth Wednesday morning, Prater said. Wednesday afternoon and the rest of the week is expected to stay relatively dry.

The hail in Dallas-Fort Worth was from a cold front and not related to Hurricane Helene, which is developing near the Yucatán Peninsula.

Helene is expected to move north over the Gulf of Mexico and make landfall in Florida late Thursday, according to the National Hurricane Center . After making landfall, Helene is forecast to move north into Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee.

Since Helene is making landfall in Florida, the NWS isn’t expecting much of an impact in Dallas-Fort Worth, Prater said.

Instead, the region will stay dry and in the low to mid 80s for most of the week. Over the weekend, temperatures will warm slightly to the upper 80s.
