Haltom City police have identified a car involved in a Sept. 15 road rage shooting that killed a 16-year-old boy , and detectives are asking for the public’s help to identify suspects in the case.

The victim, Raul Gonzalez, died at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth on Monday, eight days after he was shot, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

In a news release, police said the car they’re searching for is a 1999 black Honda Accord with a gray hood and gray front-right quarter panel. The license plate associated with the car is FNV9986.

Police said they have entered the plate number into the National Crime Information Center and Texas Crime Information Center databases as a wanted vehicle, but the suspect could have removed or altered the license plate.

Detectives also are seeking help from anyone who has access to video cameras close to the location of the shooting, which happened near the 4400 block of East Belknap Road between 4:15 and 4:45 a.m. on Sept. 15. The two vehicles that the suspects and the victim were in traveled northeast on Belknap through the intersection of Layton and Belknap, police said.
