‘First Take’ analyst says she’s unimpressed by Dallas Cowboys’ victory over New York Giants

The Dallas Cowboys avoided their first three-game losing streak since 2020 with a 20-15 victory over the New York Giants. Why did ESPN broadcaster Elle Duncan say she was unimpressed with the Cowboys’ victory on “First Take”?

“You’re the Cowboys, you’ve spent money, energy and resources. You’re supposed to be a Super Bowl contender, and I’m supposed to fawn because you barely beat a team that couldn’t string two straight wins together until week 12 of last year. I’m supposed to be impressed that you barely outbeat a guy in Daniel Jones who’s 1-13 for his career on Thursday night games. Get out of here, this was embarrassing,” said Duncan.

She did say there were positives to take away from the victory on both sides of the ball for the Cowboys.

“If we’re bright-siding this a little bit, yes, you got CeeDee Lamb more involved, that’s great. Finally your rush defense showed that they can stop somebody, but for the Cowboys to act like this was exciting, Micah Parsons is all of us today. That was embarrassing, and the fact that you outlived a team you have owned since Dak Prescott was a rookie is not good,” said Duncan.

Stephen A. Smith agreed, saying the Dallas win was more a function of the Giants’ ineptitude than anything positive the Cowboys did.

The Cowboys will return to prime time for their next game, a Sunday Night Football showdown with the Pittsburgh Steelers at 7:20 p.m. on Oct. 6 at Acrisure Stadium.
