Democrat Nancy Mulder and Republican Gina Parker will face off as voters choose which candidate will fill Place 7 on the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals .

Incumbent Republican Barbara Hervey lost her party’s primary to Parker in March.

The seat is one of three on the court up for election this cycle, alongside the presiding judge and Place 8.

The Court of Criminal Appeals is the state’s court of last resort for criminal matters. It automatically handles all cases involving the death penalty, but can choose to hear others as well.

What are your top three policy priorities? Uphold the rule of law Never legislate from the bench Produce quality and timely work

Why should voters choose you over your opponent(s)? Because I have experience as both a prosecutor and a criminal defense attorney. My opponent while serving as a judge in a case commented on the defendant’s guilt during a pending case and had to recuse herself. This is conduct that is unbecoming to a judge. All parties should be treated with respect and given a fair trial. Also, I’m an experienced constitutional law speaker.
